God is My Portion

25Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. 27For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. Psalm73

Such timeless truth that endures. No thing or no person upon earth warrants our passion equal to that desire we should have for God. Everything visible, all that we can touch, taste, smell and hear will one day perish. Earthly senses are temporal but the soul is eternal. May our souls be consumed to draw near to Him, the Eternal One. Those who are far from God go whoring after those things that fulfill the senses of sight, sound, touch and taste bringing about their ultimate destruction. When the redeemed have glorified bodies as our Lord so we shall see, hear, touch and taste but the senses shall not be our master.

In these trying times may we not be ruled by what we see and hear for in so doing our flesh and our heart(our will) shall fail us. Let God be our strength and our portion for ever.

When my earthly father died my brother and I inherited equal portions of his estate. In order for me to inherit God as my portion I must die to my selfish desires and vain pursuits. God Himself becomes my inheritance.

Selah! Meditate on this.
