Practical Holiness

The Podcast message today touches on the necessity of practical holiness. I could preach a lengthy theological discourse on practical holiness vs. positional holiness but choose to address the issue where the rubber meets the road. Many Christians embrace ideas and behaviors commonly accepted in society. Christians are called of God to be different. Our natural desire is to NOT be different but to be accepted. The call of God to the Christian is to take up their cross. This is something the world cannot know. Yet, the modern Christian wants to be loved by the world and will only distinguish themselves on subjects that are extreme such as abortion or same sex marriage. Holiness goes way beyond holding an opinion about a couple of big issues. Holiness for the Christian should be life consuming. The Christians desire for the things of the world is not the main problem. It is a symptom of the heart not longing for God.
